Revision of the Mandatory Standard SI 5438 part 6. This draft standard revision adopts the European Standard EN 896: June 2005 with the following changes as appear in the Hebrew section: ; • The concentration of sodium hydroxide should be as agreed between the manufacturer or supplier and their client and range ±2% from declaration. If the declaration stated a range of concentrations, then the difference between minimum and maximum should not be greater then 5% and the test result should be within this range. This is detailed in paragraph 4.2 dealing with composition of commercial products. ; • The limitation for sodium carbonate (Na2CO2) detailed in "Table 1- Impurities" is maximum 1% (relating to 100% NaOH). ; • The limitation for mercury (Hg) detailed in "Table 2 - Chemical parameters" is maximum 0.2mg per 1kg NaOH. ;

Revision of the Mandatory Standard SI 5438 part 7. This draft standard revision adopts the European Standard EN 900: November 2007 with the following changes that appear in the Hebrew section: ; • The sodium chloride content shall not exceed a mass fraction of 18% of the product, according to paragraph 4.3 dealing with impurities and main by-products. ; • The content of water-insoluble matter shall not exceed a mass fraction of 6% of the product, according to paragraph 4.3 dealing with impurities and main by-products. Please note that water insoluble matter consists mainly of carbonates and that calcium chlorate can be present as a by-product of the production process. ; • Adds new requirement to limit type 1 bromide content, as described in paragraph 4.4 dealing with "Chemical parameters". ;

This draft standard revision adopts the European Standard EN 12122: June 2005 with the following change that appears in the Hebrew section: The manufacturer's declaration for the concentration of ammonia solution should be 25% (in mass).
