Regulatory Representative Managers Association (RRMA), in collaboration with Global Product Compliance (GPC), is offering a series of impactful internship opportunities. Through a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the renowned institute, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Mumbai, these internships are intended to provide in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in regulatory management and sustainability.

Regulatory Representatives and Managers Association (RRMA) is a membership-based association that promotes an understanding of chemical compliance and capacity building for industries. RRMA circulates regulatory updates to its members via diverse channels such as newsletters, webinars, and conferences to achieve responsible business management.

With a vision of a mature and impactful regulatory system of technical regulations on chemicals, where India and other developing nations attain high environmental, social, and human health objectives. To organize internships and projects, RRMA partners up with Global Product Compliance (GPC), where GPC acts as a knowledge partner to the internship programs.

About the Internship

Applications are invited from candidates who are interested in Regulatory Compliance Applied Research related to the project area/specific topic in this research internship announcement. Applicants must be enrolled in Master's studies, preferably in the final year of their educational program. Applicants who recently completed their studies in higher education can also apply.

During your internship, you will be expected to provide a mid-term and final presentation, together with a final report summarizing the findings of your studies in the field. You will be guided and supervised by mentors throughout the internship. GPC grows with interns and ensures our interns develop hands-on skills related to the direct implementation of policies and consulting.

Internship Duration: 3 – 6 months.

Description
Project area 1: Chemicals regulations

This area focuses on understanding and analysing the global regulatory landscape surrounding industrial chemicals, particularly hazardous substances such as PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances). With growing concerns about chemical exposure and its impact on human health and the environment, regulatory frameworks are continuously evolving to enforce stricter safety, waste management, and compliance measures. This project area explores region-specific chemical policies, restricted substance lists, environmental safety protocols, and industry obligations under global agreements such as REACH (EU), TSCA (USA), and similar frameworks in the Asia-Pacific.

Project area 2: Cosmetic regulations

This area delves into regulatory systems governing the formulation, labelling, import/export, and safety of cosmetic products across diverse geographies. It emphasizes the need for market-specific compliance to ensure consumer safety, proper labelling, and transparency in marketing claims. The focus is on monitoring updates from regulatory authorities in various countries, understanding ingredient restrictions, certification trends, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) that impact global cosmetic product development and trade.

Project area 3: Food Contact Materials (FCM) regulations

This project area addresses the regulatory requirements for materials intended to come into contact with food, such as plastic, metal, paper, and coatings. FCM regulations are vital for ensuring that these materials do not pose health risks through chemical migration or contamination. The area includes an exploration of global FCM compliance frameworks, supply chain traceability, documentation standards, and the importance of stakeholder engagement, particularly through industry surveys and market data to assess current practices and challenges.

Project area 4: Agrochemical and biocide regulations

This area investigates the regulatory environment for agrochemicals, including pesticides, fertilizers, biostimulants, and biocides. With agriculture being a critical sector that relies on these inputs, understanding the safety, efficacy, and environmental implications of their use is essential. The project area explores regional regulations, approval processes, toxicological assessments, labelling requirements, and usage restrictions designed to ensure safe application and minimal ecological impact. Emphasis is placed on evolving regulatory demands and harmonization efforts in major agricultural economies.

Project area 5: Sustainability

Focused on environmental stewardship and sustainable business transformation, this area encompasses extended producer responsibility (EPR), packaging and waste directives, circular economy initiatives, and climate-related policy instruments. It involves analyzing how countries implement sustainability frameworks and integrate them into legislation. Particular attention is given to comparative policy analysis, sector-specific sustainability goals, and global alignment with EU-led frameworks such as the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), EPR models, and climate disclosure mandates like CSRD and BRSR.

Responsibilities
  1. Navigate the regulations that apply to the industries (e.g., Industrial chemicals, cosmetics, agrochemicals, food, etc.).
  2. Provide country-specific regulatory interpretation and guidance on the requirements of the regulation for various actors in the supply chain. 
  3. Discussions with regulatory teams to decide on topics that are useful and appealing to our regulatory intelligence portal subscribers.
  4. Author and produce regulatory news items for the Newsletter and social media posts
  5. Applies scientific writing document, and project management expertise – process management.
  6. Collect and analyze examples of challenges, gaps, and failures in regulatory compliance in a specific industry/country.    
  7. Conduct cross-country comparative studies on specific regulatory compliance.  
  8. Market analysis of regulatory and compliance policies.  
  9. Convey complex regulatory requirements and content in a clear and structured manner
  10. Creating scripts for regulatory webinars and videos
  11. Content includes Website content /social media/Promotional email/Regulatory Actionable Summary/brochures
  12. This internship/dissertation project requires 30–40 hours of working hours per week.
Education/Experience Requirement (For Regulatory Interns only)
  1. Applicants must be enrolled in Master's studies, preferably in the final year of his/her educational program.
  2. Preferably candidates with a background in Environmental science and Engineering/ Environmental Management/ Environmental Law and Policy/ Biotechnology/ Chemical Engineering/ Pharmacy/Life science/ Agricultural/Food technology, and other relevant studies.
  3. Excellent writing skills, ability to summarize and convey text in a clear and structured manner
  4. Experience authoring and/or editing regulatory documentation
  5. Project management skills
  6. Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  7. Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  8. Self-starter personality
