Fuel containers pre-filled with liquefied petroleum gas for portable butane gas stoves, torches or general refillable lighters have been subject to mandatory inspection by the BSMI since 1 January 2003. The current conformity assessment procedure is Type-Approved Batch Inspection, and the applicable inspection standard is CNS 14530:2014. The labeling requirements for fuel containers for torches or general refillable lighters are prescribed in Section 9 of CNS 12951:2003.The revised CNS 14530:2023, in Section 9.6 and Annex B, introduces pressure-resistance test requirements for fuel containers for portable butane gas stoves equipped with pressure relief devices. In addition, the labeling requirements in Section 10(a) of the revised CNS 12951:2016 no longer include the requirement specified in Item (5) of Section 9 of CNS 12951:2003 concerning whether an odorant has been added, and newly require compliance with relevant regulations announced by the competent authority for the relevant industry. Accordingly, the relevant inspection requirements are amended in accordance with the revised inspection standards.
